Get to know our intern, Addy Boyce, and her experience at Mechanics Bank.
“During my internship with the Marketing Department at Mechanics Bank, I’ve had an experience that’s been both meaningful and incredibly valuable. Before this summer, I worked at the Lexington branch for over a year, so I was already familiar with the bank from a customer-facing perspective. But this internship gave me a completely different view, one that’s behind the scenes of the campaigns, community partnerships, and branding efforts I’ve always seen from the outside. “

Throughout my time here, I’ve helped support community events, contributed to social media content, and even attended media buying meetings. One of the most memorable moments for me was attending Peace on My Block, a community event focused on serving inner-city youth in Mansfield. It was inspiring to see the impact Mechanics has beyond banking, and I felt proud to be part of something that mattered to people in such a real way.
What I’ve enjoyed most about this internship is getting to see the back end of the things I see every day, from campaign videos to graphics on The Extraordinary. Gaining that perspective has made me appreciate how much planning, collaboration, and care goes into every message the bank puts out.
My experience working at the Lexington branch has helped me feel more confident at events, especially when it comes to interacting with the public. Being comfortable approaching people and answering questions has been a game-changer in this role and something I’ll carry with me going forward.
Mechanics is a special place to work because no matter what your role is, whether you’re a teller, an intern, or part of the team behind the scenes, you know that your work matters. There’s a culture of support here that makes you feel like you are part of something bigger, and that’s not something you find everywhere.
This fall, I’ll be heading back to Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio to begin my sophomore year as a marketing major. I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and taking on any opportunities that come my way. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned at Mechanics and for all the people who helped make this summer meaningful. “
