Be the Change Videos

In your senior year of high school, once the Financial Literacy and Volunteering requirements are met, you will receive $50 to pay forward in your community. To be scholarship eligible, we ask you to create a short video about how you used the money to make a positive change in your community. Once completed, videos will need to be posted to the Mechanics Bank Facebook Be the Change Video Contest page (via a YouTube link) for voting in March. Please contact the Program Coordinator, Brooke Miller, for full submission details.

The typical video voting period on the contest page is March 1 - March 31. Video entries will be accepted throughout March, but please remember later entries will lose voting time! The public voting component is intended to inspire your communities with your ideas and allow them to participate. Many voters will have no affiliation with any one scholarship participant, but we do encourage you to involve family and friends in voting for and sharing your video presentation. The top ten video entries with the most “likes” visible on the contest page will be reviewed by a scholarship panel, who look for videos to include: how you used the $50 to Pay It Forward in your community, why your project was meaningful to you, and the impact your project had or you hope that it has on your community in the future. From these ten finalists, the scholarship panel will award five $1000 scholarships.
